A weather component and module for Joomla that display current conditions and a 5-day forecast from openweathermap.org for one or several cities.
JL Weather shows site visitors the weather in selected cities. Data comes from the openweathermap.org service and is cached on the site. The package contains a component that displays weather on its own page and a module for a template position; both are installed from a single package.

Installation and setup
- Sign up at openweathermap.org, log in and open the "My keys" section to create an API key or use the default one. A free-plan key is sufficient.
- Install the package with the Joomla extension installer.
- Enter the API key in both the component and the module.
- Find the city ID: open the city page on openweathermap.org — the number at the end of the URL is the ID.
- Fill in the city list as
ID#Name, separating cities with commas, for example554234#Kaliningrad. - Create a weather menu item and publish the module in the required position.
FAQ
The wrong cities are displayed. Where do I change them?
The default city list is set in the component options, and it can be overridden in the weather menu item settings (the city field), so each menu item can have its own list.
No weather is shown and the message "Current weather file empty" appears
Most often Joomla cannot write to the cache folder where the retrieved data is stored. Also make sure the API key is entered in both the component and the module.
The weather disappeared after upgrading from an old version
If the site template contains an override of the component output from the old version, it is used instead of the new layout and does not work with the rewritten code. Remove or update that override.
Where does the data come from, and is it free?
Weather is requested from openweathermap.org on its free plan. Terms of data use are set out in the service's user agreement.
