A Bootstrap carousel image and content slider module for Joomla 4 and 5. It supports Bootstrap 4 and 5, responsive images, custom HTML slides and a call-to-action button.
WT Bootstrap image slider shows a carousel of images or custom HTML content on a Joomla site. The slider loads no third-party libraries: everything it does comes from the Bootstrap 4 and Bootstrap 5 Carousel component. Different images can be set for different screen sizes, and each slide can have a title, a subtitle and a button linking to any part of the site.
Features
- Unlimited number of slides.
- Control settings: arrows and indicators.
- Crossfade effect (since Bootstrap 4.1).
- Display time for all slides at once or for each slide individually (since Bootstrap 4.2.1).
- Slide title and subtitle, which accept HTML tags from the Joomla whitelist.
- Call-to-action button: text, URL, button CSS classes and JS goals for web analytics.
- Custom HTML slides: any HTML code, plus output from content plugins.
- Responsive images in the carousel.
- Custom module layouts.
- Changelog URL, so the changes in a new version can be reviewed in the Joomla administrator before updating.
Responsive images
A separate image is prepared for each range of screen resolutions, and the browser picks the one that suits the visitor's device. For example, a landscape 16:9 picture works well on desktops, while phones get a portrait 9:16 one. The module outputs these images with the HTML5 <picture> tag: in the settings, each image gets a @media query written in standard CSS syntax.
Link types for the button
When the call-to-action (CTA) button is enabled in a slide, its link can be one of eight types:
- JoomShopping category;
- VirtueMart category;
- Phoca Cart category;
- Joomla article category;
- single Joomla article;
- menu item;
- file;
- custom link.
Compatibility and requirements
- Joomla 4 and 5 (since version 2.0.0 the module follows the Joomla 4/5 architecture).
- Bootstrap 4 or Bootstrap 5 styles in the site template. For the bootstrap5 layout the module loads the carousel script itself through the Joomla Web Asset Manager; the bootstrap4 layout relies on the Bootstrap 4 and jQuery scripts of the template.
- Tested with PHP 8.1.
