# Sitemap
A sitemap helps search engines find and index the pages of a Joomla site. The sitemap.xml file tells them which addresses the site has.
For now the tag holds one extension, JL Sitemap. It is a free Joomla component that generates a real sitemap.xml, so the site map is built quickly and correctly. Joomla articles are fully supported in the base package.
