A RicheyWeb system plugin that adds a back-to-top button, shown once the page has been scrolled a set distance and hidden again when the visitor returns near the top.
Top of the Page by Michael Richey (RicheyWeb) does one simple job: it gives readers of a long page a quick way back to its start. Instead of back-to-top links scattered through the text by hand, the plugin shows a single button, and only when it is actually useful. It fits blogs, documentation, long reads and shops with long product lists.
Features
- The button appears after scrolling a configurable distance and disappears when the page is back at the top.
- On short pages that cannot scroll, the button never shows.
- The button can be text or an image; since version 2.0 it can also use an icon from a custom icon font.
- Button styles are set in the plugin options.
- Its label comes from Joomla language files and can be changed with language overrides.
- Built with plain JS and CSS, friendly to Joomla caching and to mobile browsers on iOS and Android.
Compatibility
- Joomla 3, 4, 5 and 6; on Joomla 5 it runs natively without the backward compatibility plugin.
