Phoca Maps is a component by Jan Pavelka for creating maps on a Joomla site in a few clicks. It fits a contact page, a branch map, directions to an event venue or a map of local sights.
Features
- A new map is made in the backend: press the Coordinates button, click the spot, save and add a menu item.
- Markers are placed the same way, each with its own description that may include images.
- Built-in or custom marker icons.
- The Phoca Maps plugin shows one or more maps inside an article.
- Choice of map provider: the Google Maps API, or OpenStreetMap and compatible services such as Thunderforest, Mapbox, OpenTopoMap, Wikimedia Maps and Humanitarian OpenStreetMap, among other styles.
- The map look can be adjusted with CSS; the developer provides a guide.
Compatibility
Joomla 4, 5 and 6 (older branches exist too). A separate branch is released for each Joomla version, the latest being 6.0.3; last updated in JED on 6 March 2026.
