A system plugin that shows a single Joomla article in several categories: additional categories are chosen in the editor, and a canonical URL is set for the duplicate addresses.
In standard Joomla an article (com_content) belongs to a single category. Content Multicategories lets you assign additional categories to an article so it appears in each of them. The article's main category stays the same, and the plugin decides which URL the article gets when it is opened from a secondary category.
Modes
- Main — an article in a secondary category gets a URL that includes its main category.
- Current — the article URL includes the category it is currently displayed in. A canonical link to the URL with the main category is added to the article page, so search engines do not treat these pages as duplicates.
Installation and setup
- Install the plugin with the standard Joomla installer.
- Find it among the system plugins and enable it.
- Choose the mode in the Content Category option of the plugin.
- Open an article for editing, go to the Additional categories tab and select the categories.
