# Backup

Backup extensions save the files and database of a Joomla site so it can be restored after a failure, a break-in or a broken update. The copies are also useful when moving a site to another host.

Akeeba Backup packs the whole site into one archive with files, a database dump and an installer for restoring or moving it. LazyDbBackup saves a copy of the MySQL database on a schedule and emails it or keeps it in a folder on the server. Watchful Client connects the site to the Watchful service, which runs scheduled backups and maintains many Joomla sites from one dashboard.
