A lightbox plugin for images, video and HTML: full-screen layout on phones, swipe navigation, pinch to zoom and albums. Developed by Cédric Keiflin.
Mediabox CK by Cédric Keiflin opens linked media in a popup window over the page. It is built with mobile devices in mind: on a phone the image fills the screen, buttons get larger and navigation works by gestures. The script relies on the jQuery bundled with Joomla and loads in minified form.
Features
- Displays images, video and HTML content.
- Mobile mode is triggered by screen width or by device type (phone and tablet, or phone only) and can be turned off.
- Swipe between album items, pinch to zoom, drag a zoomed image with a finger.
- Grouping of media into albums.
- Takes over from other lightbox scripts through a configurable link selector; optional automatic lightbox on every image.
- A share button builds a link that opens the popup with the chosen image; a download button.
- Keyboard controls and closing with Escape.
The PRO version adds an editor button, folder-based galleries, tags for links anywhere on the site and replacement of SIG Plus and SIG Pro {gallery} tags.
Compatibility
Joomla 4, 5 and 6 (and Joomla 3). Current version 2.12.0, updated in JED on 24 August 2026.
